So I clicked on MSN's link to their article about the Oscar nominees and snubs. Here's what incensed me. I figured I'd post it so you could all rant and rave and throw things at MSN and the anti-batman write they've employed. "Oh, "Dark Knight" fans ... come here. Let me give you a hug. No Best Picture. No Best Director (for the record, if you can't shoot an action sequence or tell a coherent story, you don't deserve a nomination). Only a remembrance of Heath Ledger and a Cinematography nom. Not a good day for fanboys. Let the outrage start, as people scream, "But it made the most money this year!!" Yes, and the Academy proves once again it is not about the money. I'm starting to like them more and more with each passing year. " movies.msn.com/oscars/nominations-reaction/?GT1=28019&mpc=1

Because nobody is that much of a bufoon to write that...then again...I don't know, critics these days. Also, 13 nominations for Benjamin Button! Wow! Not bad for a remake of Forest Gump. Don't believe me? Watch this awesome video that I saw on The Late Show w/ Spike Feresten last weekend, I was lucky enough to find it on the web! Great stuff haha: www.iwatchstuff.com/2009/01/benjamin_button_may_be_forrest.php"It's exactly like Gump....but with no AIDS". lol!

I did heard it was just a crappy remake of Forest Gump. But hey, add Brad Pitt instead of Tom Hanks and I guess that equals gold.
And yeah...don't get me started on The Dark Knight thing.

Hey, don't get me wrong. The film is in no way, shape, or form "crappy" (the 13 nominations prove that), in both technical and performing aspects, it is an outstanding film. However, if the Academy is going to stand by its own belief that only original films should be awarded the highest honors, then CC:BB should lose half of its nominations. I've hear nothing but good things about Slumdog Millionaire though. So, I'll chime in on that after I get done receiving it and Gran Torino from my..."sources".

Honestly I never put too much stock into that kind of things. Does the Dark Knight really need the label? Sure it would be great. But that is a surface thing.I think the Dark Knight is much cooler than needing an award to validate its badassness. Like Hook, critics hated it but, Everyone loves it and remembers it. Never really heard a bad thing about it. Just like Dark Knight. Money talks alot, but if you remember what the Joker said "Its not about money(awards).... Its about sending a message." And Really I don't care if it won or not because all of you know that the truth is, it won. Won in a much bigger way than any cheesey awards ceremony could offer. Actually Im going to write about this in my Blog......I can say that now.

The biggest snub of the year, in my opinion, is the Wrestler missing out on a Best Picture nom. It was far and away my favorite movie of last year and really deserved it. Rourke better win Best Actor to make up for it.
I saw Slumdog, and it's definitely worth watching, but I didn't think it was as utterly fantastic as other people did. Very well put together film, though, and very enjoyable, if a bit convoluted. Lots of interesting things done in it, for sure...
And Harry, Gran Torino was beastly. I loved that movie with a passion. Clint owns massively in that, and I don't think I've heard so many racial slurs in a movie >_>
I still need to see the other 4 BP nominations, but I think the Dark Knight and The Wrestler especially got screwed.

If for nothing else SlumDog should win on the fact that it was so unique and different. Norms were redefined in that flick. And it just worked...no matter how cheesy that ending dance scene was. And I whole heartedly agree with you on Gran Torino. Awesome awesome movie! That was a BIG snub in my book as well. It should've got nominated for something. Let me tell ya. Clint Eastwood's still got it baby!

Slumdog is really good, don't get me wrong, I just didn't fall in absolute love with it. It's a technically amazing film, though, and it's camerawork reminded me of City of God (which is a great compliment).
But yes, Gran Torino should've gotten something. I also loved In Bruges and would have liked to see that nominated for something too.
But like I said, need to see the other 4 nominees before I can say for sure, but I'm just not that interested in the BP nominees this year like I was last (No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood and Michael Clayton were all great flicks, with the first being a favorite and the second one being damn near).
