I'm re-posting this message from the "Live Action Anime" forums, where a member there named: Thrash Til' Death, has recently watched NOIR and delivered what I feel is a very awesome critiquing of our maiden flick! In watching NOIR again (on my PSP!), I find practically all his points valid, and think its probably the best review on our movie I've seen!
Plus he's from Scotland: Hooray for international reviews!
ORIGINALLY WRITTEN BY "THRASH TIL' DEATH":
Watched "Noir" today. Generally speaking, awesome. The collision of all of the various genre aesthetics and motifs - westerns, gangster films, heroic bloodshed epics, and obviously, film noir - was very evocative of Tarantino, and gives rise to a hyperkinetic narrative and uber-stylish antirealism. It's really well shot, and the plot is really involved and well thought-out. I do have some criticisms, however:
First, the character of Vegas seems intense to the point that it starts to get a little silly. For the entire running time, virtually every one of his lines, both intradiegetic and extradiegetic, are either screamed or growled with a kind of Dirty Harry, "Do you feel lucky, punk?" air of menace. The viewer starts to wonder, does this guy ever turn off?
Second, the characters often invoke the corruption of businessmen and politicians as a driving catalyst for the story, but we never really see just how these figures of authority are corrupt or in what way they're screwing the population over. If such a figure had been a prominent character, the world of the movie would have seemed more fully realised.
Spoiler:
I wasn't really convinced by Vegas' motivations for fighting with Sean at the very end. I mean, Scarlet left him by her own free will, and Sean couldn't have known she was involved with him before meeting her; that hardly seems like a good reason to hold a grudge.
But generally speaking, it was thoroughly enjoyable. Keep it up, and best of luck with things to come.

So after reading this, I totally had to inform him about the whole no script thing, and how a lot of the story got lost in translation because of it (like seeing the actual corruption of St. Rosa Shore's leaders). But other than that, I thought he did a great job at describing what was going on!
So, if anybody else has got them! Let us know, what worked and didn't work for you in NOIR!
