Okay, so I'm going to start this thread off with some more complaining. Mainly because it seems I just can't win these days when it comes to technology.
So the new PTS Workstation, the computer I hand built with parts from newegg.com, is an absolute beast. It has the power of a Ferrari, and sounds like one too. I just watched this thing chomp through HD video like a 90's home VHS tape. It also completely rendered NOIR from Final Cut to DVD in less than 6 minutes. Scary part, not once did any of that cause the processors to rise above 40 degrees, nor even use the other two processors in its quad set. Impressive?...I'd say so.
Unfortunately, having a new computer has its downsides. All the programs on the dead Mac are not able to hop onto the Hackintosh until I can get access to the hard drive (a Best Buy trip is in order this week), worse...it often means I need to update....and rarely ever is updating good.
Case in point this week! I was forced to upgrade to Photoshop and Dreamweaver CS4 after having used CS3 since its release almost two years ago. Let me say, this has to be the worst sequel to a line of applications I have ever seen. They added way to much crap, and took out all the simplicity in how to do it. Essentially forcing everybody to relearn everything. Now I'm sure deep down these programs are better than their predecessors after time is spent learning them. But with wanting to get SUPER 2.0 live before I left back for Chi-Town...well its really worked against me.
So...unfortunately SUPER 2.0 won't be going live until after New Year's. Now, the good news for that however, is that it will be able to go live with the whole new season of the Couch. As well as the announcement of my side project. So it will thoroughly make up for this unexpected month of inactivity.
However, I don't want to leave you guys out empty handed. So here are three test templates from the SUPER 2.0 design. Whether or not these articles will stick with the new release is up for debate, but the design is near concrete:
powertriostudios.com/super2.htm
powertriostudios.com/super1.htm
powertriostudios.com/super3.htm
Some things may change up, and "BLOGS" will probably be getting the axe. In which I apologize for all one of you that read them (I'm looking at you mslottielenya). However, the increase in video content should make up for that. So it works out in the end.
Well this is pretty much it for PTS updating in 2008, with me heading back home for about 2 weeks, I won't have access to a machine that is capable of doing...well, anything. I went through and fixed a number of problems I've just found out with this current site (it's amazing what you can see on a 22" monitor). You probably won't notice the corrections unless you were viewing the site on a 20+ monitor.
Chime in with your thoughts on the new designs, and of course keep on chatting it up. 2009 is going to be a HUGE year for us, hopefully not just in film but for this website as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for minimal interruptions. Let's hope for the best!
Time to go pack now, I've got a plane to catch in a few hours!
