Ok Im sure you can guess that im in a huge Hook phase at the moment and instead of clogging up the Christmas topic im starting a new one. What started this was my roommate was playing the movie soundtrack. I found myself stopping and listening. It truly is a magical score. John Williams really rivals Hans Zimmer I think in this. As much as I love Captain Jack, I'm not sure he and the Caribbean and out pirate Hook and Neverland. Sure Jack is a better pirate than Hook, though Hook is no slouch. But Peter Pan kicks Will Turner in the crotch. Tink or Miss Swan....ehhh. I know today most people would say Pirates over hook but, I think it is much closer. What do you think?

Defiantly Tinkerbell over Swan. But as for Hook over Sparrow I don't know. Hook was getting kinda old and wasn't nearly as piratey as Sparrow. Plus Sparrow just had this air that made him so great. But my favorite pirate would still have to be Tim Curry in Muppet Treasure Island.

In general, I think that Pirates is quite overrated and I'm immediately inclined to say Hook trumps all. I have to agree that Capt. Jack has an air about him. Simply put, he is a rock star. But he just embodies "pirate." Now, Capt. Hook is also quite the accomplished pirate. By singing Sparrow's praises, I in no way intend to demean Hook. I believe that Captain James Hook is a brilliant pirate of the old school and Captain Jack Sparrow is today's pirate personified. And if the two were ever to combine their powers, there would be no stopping them. It would be a pirate's life for all of us!! As far as the girls go, not being a guy, I don't feel qualified to speak on it. Hook's Tink disturbed me a bit when she tried to break up Peter's marriage. But neither was I a huge fan of Elizabeth Swann. And the cartoon Tink was just bratty (but quite the sexy tease, I hear!) I'm going w/ Tink over Elizabeth. When Elizabeth can will herself to grow into a giant then perhaps I'll reconsider. But probably not. BTW, I'm now a Bucket of Slaw!!! I'm very excited to have 1 upped!

You know what alot of people give Tink alot of crap but it is actually one of the saddest parts in the film. Tink has always been with Peter and Peter ditches her for his wife. THats ok and I understand that. But you make it sound like when she kissed him that she was trying to steal him. All she wanted was to have the chance to be with him. IF you can remember she was never big enough to peruse him but she finally got her one wish. IT was too late. I don't know about you but I love Tinks story line. Also on a side note, comparing Hook and JAck is kind of like comparing a long distance running like Luke Kibet and a sprinter like Usain Bolt. Both are incredible at what they do. Similar but different. Though that takes the fun out of the question I guess.

I was being flippant. I guess Tink's storyline is one of the easiest to relate to b/c everyone has someone they want who either doesn't want them or doesn't want them enough. There are a lot of emotions there. It's complicated. I'm not trying to trivialize any of it, just condense it for typing's sake. I guess, to put it succinctly, Peter and Tink's relationship is very adult/real world. It's nothing that could have worked out in Neverland for that very reason; they'd have to grow up. I can totally see why it could be considered one of the saddest parts. Of course, I always thought Rufio's death was one of the saddest parts.

I was very glad to see the tink story explained in Hook ... she didnt even talk in the cartoon if I recall ... thats why i am all for the in-depth stories of disney movies... u get closure from the unanswered questions left from the films.. thats why Wicked is such a classic cause its just pure genius and explains everything... We prefer knowing over being left to figure it out ourselves!

Thank you for having us over. It was fun. And I, too, thought Hook had him this time. But maybe...if you go and put it on RIGHT NOW...he might just get him. Maybe he was just waiting for 2009???

I've always loved Hook. Great idea for a party Dan, er uh, Truth. My parents tell me I drove them crazy watching the original cartoon over and over when I was a wee flame prior to the inferno I am today. And when I first saw Hook it truely took me away to Neverland. Watching it at your house brought me back to those good ol' days. "CAPTIAN JAMES HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKK!!!!!!!!!!!"
