So recently I've made a list of graphic novels or trade paper backs that I've been wanting to purchase for a long time.
The Dark Knight Returns Justice League: World War III The Killing Joke The Death of Superman Spider-Man: Clone Wars (With Ben Reilly aka Scarlet Spider) Justice League: The New Frontier
What are some of your favorite graphic novels or comic book storylines? And what is your opinion of the ones I'm waiting to buy?

You should read "Watchmen", one of the greatest graphic novels...ever. Actually, there's a crap load of great graphic novels you and everybody else should be reading. The only thing is, most of them are not comic book character related, but still have incredibly colorful universes to explore. Frank Miller hands down has to be my personal favorite at the genre, you of course already know about The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and 300. But a few other really great ones to check out are Ronin and Frank Miller's Robocop. The Robocop one is really interesting. That novel was actually suppose to be Robocop 2, but the producers felt it was too dark and depressing, and re-wrote the movie. Apparently a new Robocop is coming in 2010 from Darren Aronofsky (who was actually attached to the Batman Begins project before Nolan). Aronofsky is a really talented director, and the new Robocop is suppose to share Miller's darker vision.
But yeah....thumbs on graphic novels, and to this topic!

I keep hearing about Watchmen. The movie looks great and original. I've also heard it's one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. I'll have to check it out soon. I do also realize there are a lot of graphic novels out there that aren't superhero based and that's cool. I believe with the release of Sin City (The Movie) the non-superhero graphic novel will grow as time moves forward. It's definitely a great and different way of story telling and I hope to one day, LONG down the road, perhaps write one myself.
And that's also very interesting about Robocop. I never got to finish the first movie. It was ON DEMAND and I only had time to watch about the first half hour before it was removed from the system. From what I saw however, it was very gruesome and very R Rated. Something we are seen toned down to PG-13 nowadays.

So I just read the review of the new Joker graphic novel simply entitled "Joker". Everyone's saying, critics and fans alike, it's the best comic portrayal of the J man since The Killing Joke. His new look is similar to "The Dark Knight" Joker, and the story also borrows the slums or narrows of Gotham City from "Batman Begins".
Can't wait to check this one out. However, the reviews are saying to be ready for a truly gritty and graphically gory experience.
